Farm Fresh Eggs

Farm Fresh Eggs

Deborah Stone

One of our favorite things about our farm-fresh eggs is knowing that we harvested them using only organic materials, to further ensure a healthier life for you!

Instead of keeping the chickens in small cages for their entire lives, here at Stone Hollow Farmstead, we allow our chickens to roam and enjoy the planet we adore so dearly. Unfortunately, it is all too common to purchase “cage-free” eggs from the grocery store, even though the chickens are raised in large, unclean establishments. Chickens are proven to be much happier and healthier when given ample living quarters. In fact, letting chickens roam greatly decreases their chances of contracting Salmonella!

Consuming farm-fresh eggs provides several benefits. To start, they are packed full of omega-3 fatty acids. Specifically, they contain twice as much as store bought eggs. Our bodies cannot produce omega-3 fatty acids on its own so consuming foods loaded with them is an absolute must, and eggs are a great source.

Here’s how farm-fresh eggs compare to store-bought:

  •  1/3 less cholesterol
  •  1.4 less fat
  • 2/3 more Vitamin
  • 3 times more Vitamin E
  • 7 times more beta-carotene

In addition, farm-fresh eggs contain five times more vitamin D. Our chickens enjoy time in the open pastures and direct sunlight, which increases their consumption of Vitamin D, and in turn, is found in their eggs. We pride ourselves in providing you with only the best organic products. If you’re anything like us, we know budgeting is always on the mind. We are aware that farm-fresh eggs are almost double the cost of grocery store eggs, but remember, they pack double the nutrients! It’s worth the extra few bucks. In fact, it is more expensive for us, because for the first several months of a chicken’s life, we hold off on harvesting their eggs to ensure we can provide you with the healthiest eggs!
