It’s time to hit the reset button and a perfect way to begin is with an organic juice program. January officially marks the beginning of our juicing season here at The Pantry by Stone Hollow, and we would love to have you join us! We want to share with you the answers to the most common questions we hear.
There are many reasons to juice. A few of the most common reasons we hear about are weight loss, preventive health and a need for increased energy.
How does my body benefit from juicing?
In simple terms, your body has a fuel tank and the fuel is your food. Just as your car requires clean fuel to run smoothly, so do our bodies.
The process of making juice removes the pulp and fiber. Therefore, to make a 16-ounce juice we estimate that we use the volume of produce it would take to make ten salads. With those solids removed, we benefit from a concentrated dose of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients. This simple food added to your daily diet is a way to live out Ben Franklin's axiom, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”.
When setting your juicing goals, be sure they are realistic. If you are new to juicing, it is not recommended to begin with a three or five day cleanse. Set a small goal and obtain it. Then start again. Juicing is serious business for cleansing our bodies. The liver and blood need time to process the waste that is released when juicing.
At The Pantry, we insist that you juice cleanse one day a week for several weeks. After a few weeks, your sour taste buds begin to wake up and your body starts to show the increased energy benefits from your efforts. Changing a few small habits really will make a dramatic difference in your wellness program.
After you have completed your day of juicing, try to eat 30% of your daily food intake in uncooked vegetables, fresh fruit, raw nuts and coconut water which will support a new approach to healthy eating and living. Juicing has proven to be an excellent source of increasing nutrient consumption and has earned powerful credibility in the health and wellness arenas.
When juicing, remember that whatever ingredients are in your juice have been condensed into liquid form. This makes using organic ingredients so important, as to avoid consuming large amounts of fertilizers and pesticides that are used to grow non-organic food items.
Lastly, juicing is not a single source of protein or fiber, so lengthy juices programs are not recommended.
