As the days get shorter and the temperature drops, it's time to welcome in the Winter CSA season. This box is filled with an array of delicious, fresh produce and ingredients that are sure to delight your taste buds and keep you nourished throughout the season.

Included in this Winter CSA box are collards and sweet potatoes from Farmer Dwight Hamm, shiitakes from our friends at Grandview Farms, and the most gorgeous purple kohlrabi from Love Light Farms. These vegetables are packed with essential nutrients and vitamins, making them the perfect addition to any meal. Use the collards and sweet potatoes in hearty soups or stews, or roast them with some olive oil and herbs for a delicious side dish. The shiitakes can be sautéed and added to rice or noodle dishes, or used in a stir-fry for some added depth of flavor. And the kohlrabi can be grated into slaws or roasted for a unique and tasty side dish.

Along with these fresh vegetables, we also have a selection of produce from our own farm, including peppery arugula, onions, peppers, radishes, and fresh lemongrass. The lemongrass pairs perfectly with ginger and galangal, so consider using them to create a simmering base for your next soup night. The arugula can be used in salads, sandwiches, or as a topping for pizzas, while the onions, peppers, and radishes can be sautéed or roasted for an added layer of flavor.

To add a touch of sweetness to your day, we've also included fresh sugarcane from South Alabama. This unique ingredient is sure to capture the attention of kids and adults alike. Slice off a piece and add it to your favorite cocktail for a little added sweetness. If you're not planning on using it right away, be sure to wrap it securely in plastic wrap and store it in the coldest part of your refrigerator to ensure it stays fresh.

As we welcome in the Winter season, we're excited to share this box of fresh, delicious produce with you. Whether you're a seasoned chef or a novice in the kitchen, these ingredients are sure to inspire you to create nourishing and delicious meals that will keep you satisfied all season long. Thank you for being a part of our CSA community, and we look forward to seeing you at pick-up this afternoon!
