Week Nine | Summer Harvests and Farm Updates

Hello, Summer CSA Members! Welcome to Week Nine of our Summer CSA! This week’s share is filled with fresh, delicious produce from our farm and friends, including cantaloupe, garden carrots, fresh herbs, and more. As we move through the summer season, there’s a lot happening on the farm and exciting things coming down the pipeline.

We are harvesting the last of the Celosia, drying to adorn our holiday gift boxes. Our kitchen team is busy making blueberry-drinking vinegar and infusing vinegar for our holiday offerings. We're also working on packaging our olive oil cake recipe to create an incredible gift box for Christmas. The heat has been relentless, so we have installed about 1800 feet of shade cloth over our remaining Dahlia boxes to protect them. We're also starting to get a good number of mini dahlias every day, and in the next few weeks, our van will be full TWICE a week, headed to Farmstand at Pepper Place for our weekly flower drop-off! We are continually evaluating seedlings for potential new dahlia introductions which is fun and special because these end up being Stone Hollow Farmstead Dahlias!

In other farm news, we are celebrating the birth of a baby cow, which has brought much joy to our team. We are also harvesting the last batch of currant tomatoes, which are being used in a new tomato vinegar product. Additionally, we are finishing up the blueberry harvest. This week's box includes a delightful herbed flatbread from Hinkle’s Bakery, a bell pepper mix from Love Light Farms, and peaches and lady peas from Clanton. We hope you enjoy the season's bounty, and stay tuned for more exciting updates!
