Welcome May with Mustard Greens | 2023 CSA Week 6

Farmland with rows of nasturium that are bright orange and yellow flowers

It's CSA pick-up day at FarmStand by Stone Hollow! We hope you're excited to collect your share of today's fresh produce. As we were packing each item, we couldn't help but notice the vibrant colors and enticing aromas wafting through the air. Between the beautiful strawberries and the warm French bread lay so much color and deliciousness!

Farmer Dwight of Hamm Farms pulled loads of fresh yellow onions and bunches of hearty collards, imagining all the savory dishes we can make with these flavorful ingredients.

Meanwhile, Charles over at Grand View Farms delivered luscious oyster mushrooms, which we know add a gourmet touch to any meal.

Over at Love Light Farms, Farmers Keith and Jen delivered mixed mustard greens and bright, peppery radishes - in addition to delicious salads and sandwiches, these mustard greens make for a wonderful stir fry!

And of course, no CSA share would be complete without a selection of Stone Hollow's finest produce - crisp carrots, tender salad greens, fragrant parsley, and plump, juicy strawberries. And let's not forget the eggs - the perfect protein source for any meal of the day.

As you make your way back to the car with your "freshest veggies ever" box, you'll have to show great restraint to avoid breaking into Hinkle's crusty, flavorful bread!

CSA programs are truly one of the best ways to support local farmers and eat well too! We are so thankful for our members!

STRAWBERRIES

Sweet and juicy, strawberries are a beloved spring and early summer fruit rich in antioxidants, and delicious to eat—whether served fresh or baked into desserts.

FARM FRESH EGGS

Brought to you by the SHF Hens!

Our chickens roam freely without antibiotics or hormones to slow them down, living out on the land where grass, bugs, and other natural offerings make up most of their diet. This combination creates richly flavored eggs with firm, thick whites and bright yellow yolks that stand tall.
Impress your guests with a perfectly aesthetic fried egg that won't run around the pan, with buttery-golden centers high in protein that are absolutely delicious.

PARSLEY

Fresh herbs add a rich aroma and vibrant flavor to any dish, elevating simple meals into extraordinary ones. They tend to remain soft and bright in whatever preparation, and are excellent additions to marinades, dressings, sauces, or as a final garnish.

This is a unique and flavorful concoction made by infusing leek blooms into vinegar, which can add a tangy, savory flavor to any dish. Our family uses it to dress the vegetables or salads at every meal, and sometimes we'll incorporate it into a buttery sauce as well.

FRENCH BREAD

Hinkle's Bread is owned by Cory Hinkle, a local artisan bread maker who sets up a stall every Saturday at Pepper Place. His French bread is classic- nice crisp exterior with a soft interior.
