Pecan Pies are notoriously sweet, essentially a custard made with sugar, eggs and butter. Some recipes cut the sweetness of pecan pie with corn syrup, kumquats, coffee or citrus zest. But this recipe deals with the excess sugar by adding generous doses of salt and bourbon.
Nothing could be simpler than this: pop the top on our jar of pecan pie filling, pour into a parbaked pie crust and then finish in the oven. That’s it!
