Week Six | Blueberry Harvest and Holiday Preparations
Hello Friends! We are excited to bring you Week Six of our Summer CSA! This week's box is filled with fresh, delicious produce from our farm and farmer friends. One of my all-time favorite items we grow yearly is Currant Tomatoes — these sweet mini tomatoes are the perfect bite-size! I use them in everything when in season, from pasta and salads to confits and frittatas. They add a burst of flavor to any dish where tomatoes would be used!
We appreciate your patience today during the brief website downtime, and we're happy to announce that it's back up and running. Here’s a look at what’s happening on the farm this week!
Blueberry Harvest
We are buried in blueberries! Our team has been working hard picking blueberries from our property and surrounding areas. These berries are essential for our specialty seasonal goods, including one of our most popular items: our Blueberry Rose Geranium Drinking Vinegar. This delicious product offers incredible health benefits, which we can read about here. All blueberry products should be back in stock next week!
Holiday Preparations
Believe it or not, we are already in the throes of Christmas preparations. Our marketing and retail teams are collaborating to create unique holiday gift boxes for this year and enhance our past boxes for an elevated holiday experience. Stay tuned for more details as the season approaches.
Garden Transitions
We are busy removing spring crops and planting for fall in the gardens. Farming requires a lot of planning, often seasons in advance, to ensure a successful harvest.
Great Pyrenees Care
Our six Great Pyrenees guard dogs are getting shaved to beat the brutal summer heat. It’s a tough job, but it helps them stay cool and comfortable. Update on our newest pup, Dolly: She is a mess! She wants to dig up Dahlia Tubers, chase the chickens, and swim all day! We are hopeful we can get her trained, but she will keep us on our toes until then!
Dahlia Day Reminder
I mentioned this last week, but it’s worth repeating—Dahlia Day tickets are live! This year, the event will be held in September, which we hope will bring cooler weather and even more spectacular blooms. You can find tickets here; purchase early to secure your spot.
We hope you enjoy this week’s fresh produce. Thank you for being part of our CSA family. Happy cooking!
