Selenite is a crystallized form of gypsum that’s commonly found in the form of a translucent, multifaceted stone. It’s formed when sulfate and calcium-rich saltwater evaporates.
Selenite, also known as satin spar, desert rose and gypsum flower is a favourite among crystal lovers dating back to the Ancient Greeks. They named this gorgeous translucent crystal after Selene the Greek goddess of the Moon, meaning “the stone of the Moon”.
In many traditions across the centuries selenite is believed to have powerful healing benefits. While there’s no scientific evidence to support this belief there is evidence that selenium, selenite’s trace element form, has multiple health benefits.
