History

This family business has grown from a natural love for the land and nurturing the process to producing the finest cheeses, honey, specialty foods, botanicals, cosmetic extracts, and cosmeceuticals.  Honoring both her parents' and her grandparents' heritage, Deborah Stone founded Stone Hollow Farmstead in 1999 with her husband, Russell, and daughters, Fallon and Alexandra.

The Stone family comes from a line of Alabama gardeners and farmers, sharing their history in all facets of the farmstead.  Lessons learned from her grandparents, who ran a sustainable farm and grocery store, are evident in the jars of rose petal jam, the hillside of happy goats, the hives of honeybees and the heirloom herb gardens.  Today, the farmstead houses several complementary businesses: Stone Hollow Creamery, Stone Hollow Hanoverians, Stone Hollow Herbs, Botaniko Skin and NeoTegument medical skin care.

About The Farm

Stone Hollow Farmstead is family owned and operated by a mother-daughter team and their families. The farm is located in Shelby County, about 30 minutes east of Birmingham, Alabama. We are proud to be a part of a flourishing agricultural economy within a community that seeks to preserve our rural heritage.

On the farm you'll find a small cadre of farmers, family members, interns, volunteers, and employees, all attending to the daily needs of hundreds of goats and chickens and a few jersey cows, happily living on pasture as nature intended. We raise our animals on a grass based system and consider ourselves "grass farmers" who practice management-intensive grazing to ensure healthy pastures and healthy animals. Our goats convert grass into rich milk that we turn into a variety of farmstead cheeses.

By supporting our farm, you are supporting a movement that helps grow small farms which are better for animals, the land, and people everywhere.

Deborah Stone

After over 30 years within the aesthetic, cosmetic, and medispa industries Deborah founded Stone Hollow Farmstead with the intentions of relaxing with her family, providing her children the opportunity to experience the wholesome life she had been blessed with as a child.  The farmstead began as a small European Horse Breeding facility.  When not busy with the horses, Deborah was developing her skills in product formulating, creating a line of skin and body care products while growing her own organic botanicals to include in her formulas.  By growing, harvesting and processing her own natural ingredients, she would be assured of the quality of products being produced.  Deborah's herbal and floral extracts are further enhanced by the inclusion of cosmeceuticals such as Retinol, Alpha Hydroxy, DMAE, Vitamins A, C, and E and other powerful antioxidants. Botaniko Skin Care is the perfect balance of botanicals and cosmeceuticals.  Botaniko Skin is luxurious, effective and beautifully aromatic.

Deborah's latest and perhaps most innovative accomplishment has been the development of NeoTegument, a patent pending formula of medical skin treatments for the treatment of burns, radiation dermatitis, abrasions, diaper rash, eczema, chemical peels and ablative laser therapy.  The Plantavender extract, one of the main ingredients in NeoTegument, is made from Plantago Major, which is grown and processed at the lab on Stone Hollow Farmstead.
